Working in Partnership to Safeguard Children

Safeguarding children what is this and why does it matter?

It matters because every child has the right to be safeguarded from harm and abuse. Adults working and caring for children need to work together in partnership to achieve this. Children and parents depend on us to do so. There are very few parents who deliberately set out to harm their children. However, there are children living in families that are harmful for a variety of reasons; the impact being that children suffer as a consequence.

Tina Knight, Service Delivery Manager for a Family Support and Child Protection Service will help you explore and understand what we mean by safeguarding in 2020. Tina will share her experience and give advice and guidance on how to respond to children and families who need your help and support.

Aims of the workshop:

  • Understand what safeguarding children looks like in 2020; and give an introduction to Contextual Safeguarding, i.e. County Lines; and how this impacts on early years settings.

  • Identify and establish what your safeguarding offer is for the children who attend your setting.

  • To confidently identify and respond to child safeguarding concerns.

  • To provide best practice advice and guidance when undertaking your roles and responsibilities to refer, and record concerns; and your involvement in multi-agency working in child protection.

Hosted by: Tina Knight
